Culvert & Bridge Project Resources

Crossings & Flood Risk

As climate change continues to become more and more of a threat to our local communities, it is important to understand how changing weather and precipitation patterns affect our streams and potentially increase the risk of inland and coastal flooding. As our communities develop infrastructure around these streams, it’s critical for them to understand how the two components interact in order to build safe and resilient bridges, culverts, and dams. Aquatic Connectivity

Rivers and streams are critical ecosystems made up of the physical stream and streambed, ecological communities, and a wide range of ecological processes and services. Being linear, streams are easily fragmented by roads and other structure which can disrupt these processes. Understanding how our infrastructure and streams interact and coexist is key to preserving aquatic connectivity and protecting these important ecosystems. Learn more here!

Current & Past Projects

The Climate Resilience Partnership has worked with numerous local municipal and agency partners over the past decade in developing “road-stream crossing inventories & management plans” and providing outreach and education to these communities on the importance of right-sized infrastructure and climate-resilient systems.
