Climate Smart Communities (CSC) is a New York State program that helps local governments take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to a changing climate. The program offers free technical assistance, grants, and resources for municipalities and other communities. Communities can pass the CSC pledge and commit to striving towards goals of climate mitigation and adaptation. Certified communities are the foremost leaders in the state in that they have gone beyond the CSC pledge by completing and documenting a suite of actions that mitigate and adapt to climate change at the local level.
One of the Climate Resilience Partnership’s main goals is to assist communities in becoming “Climate Smart” and achieving these goals, namely goals associated with the CSC Program’s Pledge Element 7: Increasing Local Climate Resilience.
